A380 makes inaugural passenger flight from Singapore Changi

The first Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 passenger flight took off from Singapore Changi airport today

Singapore Airlines flight SQ380 departed from Singapore Changi airport's terminal two today at 0800 hours for Sydney, Australia, marking the Airbus A380’s first commercial passenger flight. The A380's return flight from Sydney will arrive at Changi Airport at 2215 hours on October 26.

Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) director-general and CEO Lim Kim Choon said: "The A380's commencement of passenger flights marks a new milestone in aviation history. Changi is excited and proud to be the first airport in the world from which the A380 experience begins.”

To celebrate the first A380 flight, CAAS has launched a series of events at T2's departure / transit mall from October 23 to November 5. These include an exhibition marking the A380's milestones in Singapore and highlighting the work undertaken at Changi to prepare for the A380, as well as games and a contest for passengers.

The inflight duty-free offer is handled by concessionaire Duty Free Air & Ship Supply.
